Event-driven web server + reverse proxy (2004): broke Apache’s process-per-connection model; for two decades the default for “serve static, cache, TLS-terminate, proxy upstreams”. Ops model = one static file + reload (or nginx -s reload automation); TLS via certbot-class tooling rather than built-in ACME. Streams module adds raw TCP when needed.
